Tyreke Jamir Evans was born in Chester, Pennsylvania, on September 19, 1989 to John and Benita Evans. He has three brothers – James aka Reggie Evans, Julius Evans and Dion Evans; They were largely the early influence he had as they practically raised him. He is African American.
He had his college education at American Christianity Academy in Aston and enlisted on their basketball team, an impressive feat that earned him various awards such as; Mc Donald High School All-American Game MVP , Co-MVP with Brandon Jennings at the Jordan Brand Classic Games , First TeamParade All-American among other national basketball game recognitions.
In his high school senior year, he had 8.8 rebounds, 5.7 assists, and 32.1 points, along with 4.3 steals. Earned a 6th rank rating nationwide and 3rd rank as a Guardian.
He went to the University of Memphis on a sports scholarship to study and play basketball, which he chose from many offers. He initially had a difficult start with the team, unable to fit in well as a small forward, until he was brought in as a starting guard by his team coach, John Calipari, and the team won their 11th game against the Cincinnati by 60-45 points with Tyreke Evans, who scored 14 points, 10 rebounds and 8 assists.He was later named Rookie Player of the Week and the only freshman in the 2009 International Player of the Year awards. Later that same year, he made the decision to draft the 2009 NBA.

On March 31, 2009, Tyreke Evans made the NBA draft and was drafted 4th overall by the Sacramento Kings. In his rookie year, he averaged 18.8 points, 5.0 rebounds and 4.7 assists, 1.3 steals. He also averaged 26 points, 6 rebounds, 5 assists per game and 5 steals on 11/15 shoots in his sophomore season. Those records earned him 2009 Conference Rookie of the Year, January 2010 Western Conference Rookie of the Month, 2010 NBA Rookie, and NBA First Team Player. He plied his trade for 4 years and averaged 19.1 rebounds per game and 19.4 assists per game in the 257 games played.
He went on to record his first career triple-double in March 2010 in the team’s win over the Raptors of Toronto; He averaged 19 points, 10 rebounds per game, and 10 assists, becoming the 4th player in NBA history to average 20 points and 5 rebounds/assists in the same year, along with great players like; Oscar Robertson, Michael Jordan and LeBron James.
In July 2013, he was bought out by the New Orleans Pelicans along with other players like Robin Lopez and Greivis Vasquez. He immediately came into play with his new team, winning the game against the Portland Trail Blazers and scoring 41 points in the 101-89 win over the Oklahoma City Thunder in April 2014.
He later led the Pelicans to a 101-95 win at his former club – Sacramento Kings – in April 2015, averaging 19 points, 12 rebounds and 9 assists per game. He was ruled out of about 17 games for the remainder of 2015 and part of the 2016 season after sustaining a serious knee injury that required surgery to correct. He recovered quickly and set impressive records in December 2015 against the Washington Wizards. He won the game with a score of 105 – 103.
Again, Tyreke Evans braced another knee, after an injury in February 2016 that put him under the blade for a second time saw him ruled out of games during the 2016 season. After a full recovery in January 2017, he again posted a high score of 29 points in the 104-95 win over the Brooklyn Nets, ending his prolific stint with the Pelicans.

He signed with Memphis Grizzlies in July 2017 and by November, during the team’s game against the Orlando Magic, he scored 32 points, although they lost the game in a score of 101-99. He repeated his performance of 30 points in the game he started in December 2017, accumulating a total of 32 points with 7 rebounds and 7 assists in the game against the Los Angeles Lakers by a score of 109-99. He broke the franchise record previously held by Mike Miller and was later badly hit in the rib in February 2018. The injury occurred during the game against the Cleveland Cavaliers in which he grabbed 15 points and 10 assists and won the game, but ended up with cartilage damage to his rib cage.
